Plan kitchen plumbing before cabinet work

The sink and appliances need more than an attractive position on a drawing. Water connections, drainage, controls, and access must fit the proposed layout. Ask the plumbing provider to review those needs before cabinets and countertops close off the working space.

Show the whole equipment list

Identify the sink, faucet, dishwasher, refrigerator water connection, disposal if used, and any other water-using equipment. Include exact product information when selected. Ask which items need connection changes and which can remain. Do not assume every appliance delivery includes the plumbing work needed for installation.

A deeper sink or changed cabinet can affect clearance beneath it. Ask the provider to evaluate the actual dimensions rather than approving a layout from a general inspiration photo. The appliance-connection page helps separate the retailer's delivery role from a plumber's scope.

Keep service access part of the design

Discuss how future shutoffs and connections will remain accessible. A neatly finished cabinet is less useful if a necessary control is blocked. Identify who cuts openings and who protects finished surfaces during the plumbing work. Get agreement on restoration if access outside the new cabinetry is required.

Align the trades and approvals

Confirm the relevant Gurnee permit path for the complete remodel, including who supplies plans and schedules required inspections. Ask which work must happen before cabinets, counters, or appliances are installed. A plumber's appointment and a delivery window are not interchangeable milestones.

Before the room returns to normal use, request a demonstration of the installed fixtures, accessible leak checks, and equipment instructions. Keep the model details and warranty contacts. This guide does not specify pipe sizes or approve a layout; it helps make the coordination visible before a late connection problem disrupts finished work.
