Arrange a new appliance connection

Ask who is responsible for the water and drain connections before an appliance arrives. Delivery, removal of the old unit, installation, and alteration of existing plumbing may be separate services. A retailer's installation offer should be read for its exact conditions and exclusions.

Information and referral guidance. For a provider call, confirm the business and address coverage. Our role.

Use the selected model's requirements

Give the installer the actual product information, not only the appliance category. Ask whether the existing water supply, drain arrangement, controls, and clearances are compatible. A change in model can create a different access requirement even when the new unit occupies roughly the same space.

Do not connect an appliance to an improvised hose or adapt an unfamiliar valve yourself. Ask which fittings or hoses are supplied, which are replaced, and who is responsible for confirming the final connection. Keep manufacturer instructions with the equipment.

Resolve a rejected installation in writing

If a delivery crew cannot complete installation, request the reason and what must be corrected. Share that information with the qualified provider who will assess the plumbing. Do not turn a delivery note into a guessed repair order when the underlying condition has not been checked.

Confirm who moves and reconnects the appliance after plumbing work. A plumber may not include cabinet alteration, electrical work, or a second delivery visit. Identify those boundaries before the equipment is left blocking a room or access route.

Keep the first-use check controlled

Ask the installer to demonstrate the required commissioning or initial operation under the product instructions. Observe accessible areas during ordinary use afterward and report any leak promptly. Do not reach behind a powered appliance through water to find a connection.

Retain the product invoice, installation record, and direct follow-up contacts. The appliance manufacturer and each installer may have different warranty responsibilities. Gurnee Plumbing Decisions does not sell appliances or certify compatibility; it helps you ask for a complete connection plan before delivery day.
