Use the current Village entry point
Gurnee's building-permit page links applications, requirements, and the One-Stop portal. The page identifies water-heater replacement among the online permit categories. Other work may follow a different application path. Use the current instructions instead of relying on an old downloaded form or a neighbor's project.
Ask what drawings, equipment information, and contractor details are required for the actual scope. A bathroom layout change and a like-for-like equipment replacement can raise different questions. Do not describe a project more narrowly than the work you intend to perform in order to avoid review.
Assign responsibility before the start
The written scope should identify who applies, who supplies the supporting information, who pays fees, and who schedules inspections. Ask for the permit reference when issued. If the provider says a permit is unnecessary, ask for the basis and confirm with the authority when uncertain.
Keep the closing record
An issued permit and a final inspection result serve different purposes. Retain both where applicable, along with the proposal and invoice. Ask what remains open if the work is completed but an inspection has not yet occurred.
Urgent conditions require prompt safety action, but this website cannot grant an exception to a permit process. Discuss the actual circumstances with Building Safety and the provider. Fees, processing times, and approvals are not promised here, and a postal address alone does not prove Village jurisdiction.
